As an international event company, we create magic with our work. Our positive, can-do attitude and people-focussed ethos shines through in everything we do, and the excellent relationship we build with all of our clients invests us in their story, which is what gives that intangible extra spark to every single Caelia event.

Our story

Elaine founded the company in 2011 (then as A Spanish Do) and Lauren joined 3 years later. Fusing our backgrounds in the high paced sectors of hospitality, tourism and fashion, we quickly carved out our niche as the go-to event planners in Spain for high profile international clients seeking exclusive events with a unique twist.

With time, we found increasingly more clients were asking us for fully integrated planning and decorative services, and indeed design is such an essential part of our work that bringing decorative production in house made perfect sense.

From the very first event where we collaborated with Esther and Joan (then as decoration company Rita Experience), we clicked instantly as a team.

We share the same passion for perfection in every single detail of the event, so when we decided to expand to offer full integrated design and floral services, we knew immediately who we wanted bring on board.

Each of us brings a wealth of experience in our field, and we are the definition of a multiskilled team. With our combination of creativity and business acumen, languages, and sourcing and negotiation skills, we tick all of the essential boxes for the execution of flawless worldclass events.

The directors

Elaine Bray

With a background as operations manager in the busy world of tourism, Elaine is an expert in leadership, supplier relations and logistics. As our team leader on site, she’s known for her ability to stay cool under pressure and her incredible problem solving skills.

Elaine is originally from Ireland and has lived in Spain for over 15 years, and is an encyclopedia of knowledge on the Barcelona area, as well as Andalucia and the South Coast, where she spends down time with her family.

Lauren Whelan

The other half of our ace planning team, Lauren came on board as partner after working as a project manager in fashion. As such, she combines a keen eye for design and visuals with meticulous organisational skills.

Originally from the UK and now based in Barcelona, she is fluent in Spanish, French and Italian, and is also our resident Italy expert, spending part of her year in Tuscany at her husband’s family home.

Joan Vila

With an expertise in production, Joan ensures that Caelia events are at the forefront of innovation in the sector.

Managing our two ateliers and the logistical side of our design department, he is constantly sourcing new products and studying ways to maximise quality and productivity on every single event. On the rare occasion he isn’t working, you’ll find him enjoying the Spanish countryside or travelling around Europe. 

Ester Linero

Our director of floral design, Ester originally studied architecture, and this fusion of creativity and appreciation for structure and composition shows through in her outstanding floral creations.

She has a passion for detail and can tell you the story and origin of every single decorative element of each event, from a delicate local flower to a hand died silk ribbon. Ester is half French, and lives between Barcelona and the beautiful Costa Brava.
